Part of me feels similar I should hold out apologizing for liberally using store-bought dough but...... I'm non sorry? I'm only non people. I mean, it's non to nation that I don't desire to top dog homemade dough. I do, I actually do. But inward the meantime I'll happily proceed on my way amongst the shop bought kind.

I know a sum pie is traditional for a Thanksgiving dinner but I quite similar the sentiment of these manus pies instead. My household unit of measurement commonly has a generous sampling of desserts too a sum while of pie tin only hold out likewise much (even for me). I desire a petty of this too a petty of that. And a petty to a greater extent than of this too a lot to a greater extent than of that too likewise much of this too non plenty of that.
Hand pies to the rescue!
I specially similar the mild sweetness of this pumpkin filling. It isn't cloyingly sugariness or custardy. It allows the pumpkin to sense of savour similar pumpkin. Instead of only saccharide too pumpkin. And a lite sprinkling of saccharide on the pie crust earlier hitting the oven creates a sugariness crust to encase the shine pumpkin creaminess inside.
Who needs a sum pie?!
Here's the recipe!
Itty Bitty (Easy) Maple Pumpkin Hand Pies
makes approx. xiv pies
Ingredients
- 2 9" inch pie rounds
- 1 loving cup pumpkin canned puree
- 1/4 loving cup chocolate-brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sugar, addition to a greater extent than for sprinkling
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Blue Planet ginger
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- 1 egg, beaten, for egg wash
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking canvass amongst silicon mat or parchment newspaper too gear upwards aside.
2. In a minor bowl, combine the pumpkin, sugars, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, too salt. Set aside.
3. On a good floured surface, gyre out 1 9# pie round. Using a circular cookie or biscuit cutter nearly 4-5" inward diameter start cutting rounds. Combine leftover scraps, re-roll, too cutting to a greater extent than rounds. Repeat amongst 2nd 9" pie round.
4. Begin scooping the pumpkin mixture onto the pie rounds. Use nearly a teaspoon of filling too identify onto one-half of the round, leaving a edge of dough available to seal the manus pie. Fold the other one-half of dough over the filling too purpose a fork to seal the ends together. Repeat amongst all rounds. Once complete, brush all rounds amongst beaten egg too sprinkle liberally amongst sugar.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed too golden brown. Allow to cool slightly earlier eating.
